DAY 1 – Tuesday, June 23
Flew to SLC airport and met up with an old friend of mine until my sister Laurel arrived and then we drove home to Idaho with my parents. We got to Rupert Idaho around midnight.
DAY 2 – Wednesday, June 24
My mom and my sister Laurel and I spent the day recovering from a late night with the kids, visited, watched the Road to Avonlea episodes that used to be a TV series on the Disney channel.
DAY 3 – Thursday, June 25
More visiting, Road to Avonlea episodes and four-wheeler rides to see the cows.
Brody and Katie
Katie and Grandpa. Katie couldn’t get enough of being outside at Grandma and Grandpa Hepworth’s house.
All things considered, Brody and Katie play really well together. There were not enough stroller that were toddler size, so this was the solution. It last about 5 minutes.
DAY 4 – Friday, June 26
This day was also spent watching Road to Avonlea episodes, naps, visiting, etc. I also had to pack up again and I was off to meet Chris’s Parents in Pocatello. This weekend Chris’s mom’s side of the family was having there reunion in Downata Hot Springs. This night was spent getting settled in and spent visiting around the campfire with Chris’s family.
DAY 5 – Saturday, June 27
Chris arrived at Downata Hot Springs! It had been a fun week, but Katie and I missed him! This day was spent doing a lot of activities at the reunion, visiting, eating, and all sorts of fun things. We had a really good time there.
Katie had more fun filling the plastic cup with sawdust then she did actually finding the coins in it. It is her favorite thing to do, and most people found it quite funny.
Chris and I coming in last place in the three legged race. We totally sucked! But it was fun and we got the hang of it at the end. We will have to practice for next year!
This is a picture of all of us at the reunion.
DAY 6 – Sunday, June 28
We drove from Downata Hot Springs to Brigham City. The day was spent catching up on Laundry and baking food for the family dinner that night. Chris’s mom planned a family dinner with Chris’s two brothers. It was fun to see all of them again and to visit.
This was an attempt to get a picture of all of the grandkids. All in all, it turned out pretty good.
Katie and Grandpa Housley
Katie and Uncle Clay. Katie loves balls. Can you tell?
Towards the end of the night, Katie really warmed up to Leah and I was able to get a couple of really cute pictures of the two of them.
Grandma Housley and Katie
Grandpa Housley reading to Katie. Another favorite thing.
After the dinner, Chris’s mom took care of Katie and went and visited some friends of ours that we hadn’t seen in awhile. I also realized I didn’t have a single picture of them either. These two are a riot to hang with. BJ and Zoey Peterson.
DAY 7 – Monday, June 29
This day was spent vegging out mostly. More visiting and just playing with Katie. Days like this are always nice to have even when on vacation.
DAY 8 – Tuesday June, 30
This day was another day somewhat relaxed and most of it was spent visiting, watching movies, and relaxing. The best part was driving over to Logan and going to First Dam. There are always a lot of ducks there and Chris and I always went there when we were lived there and were in school. We were a 5 minute drive from it and we thought it would be a lot more fun going with Katie. She got a real kick out of those ducks.
I think we may have a left handed little girl after seeing this video. She really does most things left handed. Poor thing. I just feel bad for lefties in general. I can always hope right? Southpaw or not, she had a great time with these ducks/geese.
DAY 9 – Wednesday, July 1
We woke up got packed up and ready to go and headed back up to Idaho for my family’s reunion. Everyone arrived at there own rate and the remainder of it was spent visiting and taking turns on the four-wheelers and motorbikes.
DAY 10 – Thursday, July 2
Today was river day and we had a blast. We drove down to a friend of the family’s house and went for rides on the waverrunners and the boat. We also hooked up a HUGE slip n’ slide and had races. It was by far the best slip n’ slide ever! Katie didn’t like it at all.
Katie is a momma’s girl, so unless I’m holding her, she wasn’t happy, hence the weird faces and crying, but she actually really liked the boat and just chilled through the whole ride.
Didn’t want to let go of me, but she really did like the ride. She wasn’t crying after they took off.
She spent most of the day in the sandbox and was happy while Chris and I took turns having a good time.
Chris and I after we raced down. I almost beat him!
More racing
DAY 11 – Friday, July 3
This day we went to a cousin’s house who has an indoor pool and went swimming for another couple of hours. However, I didn’t take pictures. Also, my Grandma and Grandpa Bray came out to see all of us for an hour or two. While they were here, I took a four generation picture with them. It is the first time, I have been able to take one, and I’m glad I did. Also on this day, Chris and took Katie to see the cows again. I wanted Chris to see how excited Katie got when she sees the cows.
Four generations
The whole family and a very friendly calf
Petting the calf by herself and trying to get out of the picture
Showing her the calf
DAY 12 – Saturday, July 4
This day was a lot of fun. We woke up and went to the Rupert Parade. Fun, yet hasn’t changed any since the last time I went. There was one thing that was funny and it made the whole parade. Today was also spent packing and taking four-wheeler pictures when the sun wasn’t as bad. We did fireworks and sparkles that night and had a great barbeque. I will spare you all the details on this one.
Look closely. This is hilarious. So many things come to mind with this. It made the parade.
This is a favorite of ours. We stuck her in the wheat field and took a picture of her. She didn’t really know what to think. I’m sure one day we will get one that is even better.
I was surprised she didn’t cry in this one, but it turned out pretty cute.
Our family
My niece Jennika really wanted to build sandcastles and kept asking her Dad all week to build them. So finally he did. Katie wasn’t far behind.
Loving the dirt
Couldn’t be happier. Apparently, we need to get a sandbox for her to play in.
Manning the barbeque. Chris makes a MEAN barbeque chicken. Lucky me!
Trying to do sparklers.
DAY 13 – Sunday, July 4
The long and dreaded drive home. Katie did a lot better than last time. Thank goodness and hallelujah for Benadryl. She actually slept on this trip. 14 hours later and it was HOME SWEET HOME.

what a fun trip!!!! katie is so cute and you look beautiful!! :)
What a great vacation. I love Donetta Hot Springs. I will be up there this weekend. Having the family reunion in Blackfoot every year - it seems like we do a lot of the same things you guys do. Farm, river, hot springs, visiting, etc... I love it.
What a fun filled trip! Katie is at that age where it all gets to be a little more fun to do and experiance things... I am sure she'll look back at all the pics and know that she has parents that love her and she had a great childhood! I am jealous you all got to get out of dodge... hope your summer continues to be fun!
How fun! Looks like you have a busy but fun vacation. We were in Rupert for the 4th I wish were would have seen each other. You drove right past my house going from Brigham City to Rupert... We live in Tremonton by McDonalds and Wendys. You have such a cute family
Great post, Kristen! By the way, David has worried with every single one of our children that they would be a lefty (they all at one point were favoring their left hand), but none of them are.
I like the cows.
